Most of this discussion seems to be among people who are pretty familiar with how this is usually run. Is there anywhere the explicitly outlines the nomination and contest process for newcomers like me?

I'm sure Deo and Tox will have something longer in the days to come, but here's the short version:

You will have 30 nominations/supports. Note that new tracks you're nominating and other folks' tracks that you're supporting both draw from the same pool. You can spend 5 of them on the first day, and any/all of the rest on the succeeding days. To nominate a track, simply post it in the following format:

GAME_NAME | TRACK_NAME | YOUTUBE_LINK

(Other sources are permitted, but youtube is strongly preferred. Additionally, that's the pipe character being used to delineate.)

You can also double some number of your nominations/supports, which make them count twice.

During the first week or so, all tracks that get above a total number of supports, including doubles, will be "locked." This means that they are guaranteed to get into the contest. All remaining slots will, after the full nominating period, be assigned to the tracks with the highest number of supports. Ties will be broken by number of unique nominators. (E.g., a track with 6 supports because three people doubled it [which we denote as 6/3] will lose to a track that was supported by six different people [a 6/6 track].)

After that, there'll be a week or two wait while the hosts handmake the bracket, during which it is tradition to regularly say to them "WHERE'S THE BRACKET" and "WE WANT THE DAMN BRACKET." This is very important.
