Im guessing its one of those things that crosses across India/Sri Lanka/ Bangladesh/ Pakistan? (Because an Indian ex gf used to say it too lol) Don't know how I missed that from the username after reading and re-reading a couple times lol I'm not sure how many cultures/regions use the word but I know my family uses it quite a bit. My parents and aunts and uncles come from Kerala which is a state in South India. Pretty commonly used there.
