That reads like a weird way to reject someone, in my experiences it's more like "I'm seeing someone" or "I'm REALLY busy" or "I'm flattered but no thanks". Like just very dry and not much room for interpretation. Could've said like "I wouldn't have asked unless I thought it'd be good" or "well let's find out?" or "yeah it wouldn't be good....you free next Thursday?" or some shit.
