This set is teeming with cards that can make a third color more than a splash (hint - snow can make an unintuitive "basic land" pick into a game winner). If the set is as shallow on picks as you're claiming, then you really should be winning. If the set really is as you describe then "good drafters" should actually have the advantage over bad drafters due to their skill, since overall everyone will regularly get bad cards. My guess as to why you're not doing as well as you think you really really, really deserve to is that you are auto-passing on a lot of high value cards simply because they would be low value in other sets.
