There would be no lag to spectate mode since it would be a replay that is streamed or perhaps even played back with inputs on your device but its all been done and compiled already so it wont affect any playing. Its understandable that live spectate would have issues with lag since youd still need the spectators to receive data at a solid rate, but honestly I get kicked all the time when it seems to make no sense so I would hope the threshold for kicking a spectator is higher rather than lower or lenient. If they cant spectate without dropping the quality, just kick them out so the players (who really matter here) can avoid problems.
