Topic	Wouldnt joining the military be better than being a lowlife leech?

The Vietnam draft accounts for a lot of it, people had no choice but to go or go to jail and were put in a position to kill people in the middle of a jungle. Some people join taking on combat jobs like infantry thinking they can handle it and when it comes down to it, killing a man instead haunts them and follows them around forever. You can be the biggest, toughest, meanest guy in the world and say "I'm gonna join the marines" and you get deployed and it completely messes with you and you don't realize that you weren't that tough guy you always thought you were. I won't lie, I saw a lot of people fucked from war, from combat, from military service. It's something to really consider and really think about. I wound up spending a year in Kuwait and I still think about it, and remember the fear, but I put myself there by being a supply truck driver.
