If you're allowed to drop a bomb on a T.rex and make him grow to 400 ft., you can do the same for a giant gorilla. And if you want to change Godzilla's origin to say that he's always been 400 ft. tall, then you can just as easily change Kong's origin story to say that he was always 400 ft. tall.
