Two episodes into G, these episodes go fast so I can see how it would have been pulling teeth to watch weekly. Train sequence was very nice to open with, love anything to do with high speed rail action.
IIRC I liked Hibiki and Chris from first season and that remains accurate. They could legit carry a Dirty Pair-style buddy show.
Genjuro is also good.

New characters:
Pink hair reminds me of Sheryl from Macross Frontier, for whom I hold distaste, although I do hope Hibiki and her have a good punch up soon.
Blondie was OK, but the youthful appearance makes me concerned about what kind of plot might be in store. Hopefully they keep it fresh from Genjuro + Chris in S1, which was the stand-out subplot in my opinion.
Mom seems interesting, wonder what her deal is.
