I beat Bastion today, honestly it was phenomenal.

I think you'll really appreciate this one, Exdeath.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to that one. It's a game I've been meaning to play for years but just never actually sat down and played. The only Supergiant game I have tried was Hades, which I thought was pretty good.

I finally finished up Dead Space 2. It turned out that Ellie survived the events of last time but lost an eye. Isaac kills Stross with his own screwdriver. The game lets you pick up his corpse with your telekinesis, so I chucked him off the nearest edge. Isaac sends Ellie away on a spaceship that they find but stays behind himself to destroy the marker. He also makes up with spooky girlfriend and they have a little chat about moving on. I thought those two story moments were kind of nice. Up ahead, the Earthgov guys have a big compound, but since the devs didn't want to program human combat for such a small portion of the game Isaac just shuts down the power and lets Necromorphs overrun the place, making him directly responsible for hundreds more deaths, but maybe you can argue that was ethical in order to destroy the marker. Ghost girlfriend makes him do the whole eye surgery thing which I nailed on the first try, and then when he makes it to the marker it turns out she was secretly still evil (surprise surprise,) and wanted to use him to complete the marker instead of destroying it, but after a short and anti-climactic final boss the place starts to blow up and Isaac sits there waiting to die, until Ellie comes back in the ship from earlier and saves him.

Gameplay wise there's not much new to say. I mostly just coasted through the last two chapters because I had so many supplies from exploiting the drop mechanics for half the game. Most encounters I could get through by just holding down the fire button and pointing vaguely in the enemy's direction, and even if I did take hits I had like 15 health kits at a given time. I did have a lot of trouble at the very end when they bring in this guy who's essentially the Dead Space equivalent of Nemesis. You can only really run away from him because he just puts himself back together if you shoot him. It's tough to deal with other enemies while he's hounding you, so I kind of just ran wildly through the last chapter and burned through most of my stuff in the process.

Final Thoughts on Dead Space 2 coming up.
