I played through chapters 8-10 tonight. I ran into a spot of bother in chapter 9 when I decided to save up for a 40,000 credit suit that gives 5 extra inventory slots and a discount at the store. I had 6 small health kits when I passed a store and decided to risk assuming that was enough, which ended up leaving me without much supplies when I came into a really tough room where there were loads of the "Stalker" enemy type who like to hide behind crates, which is one of the trickiest enemies in the game for me. That same room also ends with one of the spawner "Guardian" types that gave me a lot of trouble before, so I barely squeaked by on my third attempt. I got it together after that, though, and now I'm back to being loaded down with everything I need. I've also completed all my upgrades for both the weapons I'm using, so there's no need to buy power nodes going forward unless I want to introduce a third weapon for the late-game.

For Chapter 10, Isaac finds out that the ship from the last game got brought back to Titan, and he has to go inside. There's a decent little period of build up where there are no signs of life at all on the ship and you don't have to fight any screaming necromorphs, which I thought was nice because it was the first time I can remember this game really pacing itself. Naturally the place brings back bad memories, so Isaac sees even more visions of his girlfriend's ghost complaining about their relationship issues than usual. Once Isaac figures out what he needs to do on the space ship, it seems like Stross finally snaps and murders Ellie with a screwdriver, so that's too bad.
