#82 Braid (PS3, 2008)
The game that launched a thousand indies. Simply, a neat and creative puzzle game centered entirely around time travel was a puzzle game I always knew I needed and finally got. The art style looks very eloquent and these are some tricky puzzles that really make you feel good for solving them. The way it keeps expanding on the time mechanics is great, between stuff that is and isn't affected by time, things that move with you, areas where time stops, items that break permanently, and the ring of slowing shit down. All good stuff. I like how the puzzle pieces also were a part of the solution sometimes too (ie, creating an extra platform). I think there may have been some points where my solution was cheesed though. I think this game does run a little pretentious with its plot, but I guess it needed to be framed around something. The moment that stands out for me is one level I was stuck on and was just messing around until I realized that the enemies can bounce off of YOUR head completely by accident!

So yeah, fun puzzle game, and I'm glad it exists for the fact that a lot of my favorite indie games would not exist without it. We'll be seeing those later. Looking forward to replaying this on the remaster this year, and finally getting that damn 4 hour star.

Up next: A game with a subtitle that at some point you probably realized you have been calling the wrong name all these years. I think everyone knows this by now but if not, prepare to have your mind blown?
