WiggumFan267 01/12/21 8:40:54 PM #380:	#84. Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4, 2018) This is very simple, because the gameplay here is very good, but not great (its fun but repetitive). It's all about the traversal. Getting around feels FANTASTIC and that's really all you can ask out of a Spider-Man game. I never played that PS2 one that everyone loves- I can't imagine that has better control than this one. Youcan move around in so many ways, and ways to do it QUICKLY. From just swinging, to wall climbing or running (vertical or horizontal), to the side-pull-shots (not sure what to call these, the game had a name I forgot... when youuse the side of a building or something to help stabilize your forward momentum), to the point launches where you zip to a point and just propel yourself forward. It feels incredible. The story does good work here too. Even with blowing through a ton of villains, it doesn't feel the way that like, Reimi's Spider-Man 3 did. The boss fights are good (nice shoutout to one of them in Miles Morales), there's enough collectibles and things to do to keep you satisfied, and it's a solid difficulty level on the upper difficulties. The weapons and gadgets are good, but could be better. I do like the wind blast one where you can just blow foes into the air and then knock them off a roof. I also really enjoy how "anatomically correct" Manhattan is, with capturing a lot of the big locations being a big sidequest of the game. Though they didn't do a good job with New Jersey :( Peter and Doc Ock's relationship is great also, as is the voice acting from everyone (especially JJJ, of course. Him as a Sean Hannity-esque political pundit with a podcast is perfect for him, newspapers being not really a thing these days). Coolest thing you can do of course is climb to the top of the WTC or Avengers Tower, whichever you prefer. Or both. And dive off with a ground slam. Then casually high five the dude you landed next to. You can fast travel too for hilarious scenes like this but... you're goddamn Spider-Man why would you ever fast travel? Next up: A puzzle game starring an enemy from a certain mascot's game.
