#82. Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber (N64, 2000)

Here's the one N64 game on my list! The system had plenty of games that were decent to good for me, but early 3D is something I often have had trouble fully enjoying. Ogre Battle 64 was one of the few solid RPG attempts on the system, a genre that isn't as hampered by low quality 3D. The game also squeezed a lot of 2D graphics out of the N64, creating a look that still holds solid today.

Battles are composed of units of armies, and controlling where they wander across the map. Testing out different assortments of fighters, different arrangements, and earning new types of units is the bulk of the game, and it's loads of fun. I don't remember the story super well, but I remember it being surprisingly deep and interesting, and there's some branching paths and your characters have a measured amount morality that affect where the story goes and a couple different endings.
