The original translation for this was... really bad. It was perfectly well-enough written, but it didn't follow the music at ALL. The GBA translation of it is a wonder, as it translates the lines well, sticking close to the original themes, and sounding like an actual song would sound like, while also going along with the rhythm of the music. I know some people prefer the SNES lyrics because of nostalgia, but at certain Final Fantasy live concerts they'll play Maria and Draco and it's so much more clearer how amazing the new translated lyrics sound and work. I went to Distant Worlds a couple of years ago and they performed the entire opera sequence, with real opera singers playing the parts and a professional narrator and it was easily the most incredible performance of the night.
