I kinda despise team-based tabletop games:

Part of the fun of a tabletop game for me is, doing whatever I want, when I want, basically. I'm trying to win, sure, but I can try new strategies every time, no big deal.

But with a teammate, there's too much pressure to try to work together, or follow strategies that they would want to follow. Feels like there are way fewer options, and I'm unable to express myself creatively.

As for trick-taking games, I do like "Oh Hell" though. It's pretty basic, the cool twist is, you predict how many tricks you're going to win, and you get a big bonus if you end up being right. The predicting happens each round, after the deal, before you start playing the round. Not terribly strategic, but it's a good laugh.
