I increasingly love Sega music, but Sonic is definitely a franchise I don't care much about. Music like this really doesn't do much for me. I can't even point out any reasons why. It seems like something I should like a lot more. Like I'm listening to the piano breakdown, unmoved, and confused about why I'm unmoved. what ever. In other news, Kenichi Tokoi composed Unknown from M.E. Completely irrelevant, but this is a fact I'm compelled to share

Who cares?. DBZ - The Legacy of Goku 2 - Trunks Theme

This sounds like it's straight out of Metroid. Pretty high quality for the GBA. It's doing something, but I don't think it's enough. I feel like I've heard songs that were well put together that had this as the background. It's just missing something

Who cares?. Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap - Mind of Hero

Steel drums are forever ruined for me. Alright song. Happy, which has no effect on my enjoyment of the song. There are plenty of people who would probably give this a very high score just because it's very happy. I don't get that. There are songs that are happy and that make me happy, but they don't make me happy *because* they're happy. They make me happy because they're happy *and* they're good. A song succeeding at achieving the mood it's aiming for, for the most part as far as I can tell, is much more important than what the specific mood is. It's like people who love songs because they're loud (related to the infamous "banger!!!" overzealous nonsense that gets made fun of). Like, I dunno, it seems like a mostly separate axis to me. Sure, sometimes I do get moved purely by the mood of the song even if it's not good, but I'll at least acknowledge that it's a guilty pleasure and that the quality isn't particularly high. I know people IRL who seem incapable of doing that, and it freaks me out a little, y'know? And yes, often have more nuanced reasons for enjoying the song that they're just choosing not to list when saying they like it "because" it's happy. Those aren't who I'm addressing this to
