Seeing these microindies.
In general, do they make their own thumbnails, get submissions or commission shit?
I'm talking about these sub 1k subscriber channels with 100 views tops.
Like I'm sure once you include startup costs and time and effort it's a money loser and more of an indoor hobby at that level.

most indies do commission artists for their avatars and sometimes also art (some make them themselves though, and there are also a lot of legitimate groups out there that otherwise come across as "micro-indies" where it's the other way around and artists just have connections to would-be vtubers and just become a thing that way, like chucolala run by paryi)... but actually even those at the top of the scene have to make their own thumbnails lol. it's the most common form of "work" stream they do actually
