I feel like the most common reasons involve familial obligations, continuing education and/or wanting to stay with longtime friends (it's generally a lot harder to make new friends as an adult, so the principle of "a bird in the hand" strongly applies here). Personally, I want to move around (especially to get the hell out of Kentucky), but I totally get why others would want to stay put.
