One of the complaints is that the pronouns that characters use when you talk to them is based on what voice you pick. That's definitely a coding issue.
Other complaints like the significance or lack thereof of main storyline trans characters mostly comes down to personal preference. Even the issue brought up of trans characters being sexualized seems like a non-complaint in a dystopian future where sex is used to sell everything and people can hot swap their genitals.
That's not a coding issue, that's a game design issue that was a deliberately made choice. ---
