I got burned on the DOOM 2016 season pass (an update made all content free) and more recently Rocket League (which luckily I don't ay often), so I lost 60 bucks due to shitty dev decisions, no compensation whatsoever. That's different than what TV is talking about though. TC is talking about things that you pay for, and then they suddenly switch to requiring a subscription.
