Turns out it was in an area I hadn't explored before, and the last Geoculus (not counting the extra one) was just sitting there. That then allowed me to complete the nine pillars quest, though I'm positive that one does not block multiplayer. Didn't know changing to a different active quest is a thing. As for the event, I did two runs solo and barely finished the second. Did a third and final run in co-op, enemies were 30 levels lower, and it took 2:30.
