you could always grind on the statues, if you have a lot of softs or Level 5 death.

I don't think there's anything there besides money - it's sort of a gambling game. You get more money with each step, but there's an increasing chance to run into an enemy that's too strong to handle at that point and probably would fight multiple times if you try to go all the way through it. I never really bothered with it.

oh and about the frog you have to use the monster tamer's capture command on one of the frog enemies in the area, then go back to the guy who wants a frog. you get an item.
