And, in terms of content consumption, binging is a popular trend and has a pretty clear social element. Your modality for content consumption and discussion reflects a very outdated way of thinking.
The irony of you saying this is hilarious. The online anime community IS seasonal and pretty frequently talks about the exact thing I brought up. They don't have time to keep up with all the current shows but want to be part of the discussion so they watch what they can from the current season and never have time to watch their backlog. It's a very frequent thing to hear people bring up from rnadom people on forums to big anime youtubers.

You have a large number of people -- including those in this topic -- who also visit older series.
Yeah and look at the discussion that goes on here. Virtually none, cause no one is watching the same stuff.. MAYBE someone will leave one comment but most of the time it's basically just people reporting what they watched/read to no response. The exception sometimes is a currently airing show or apparently gacha games.

Like go back and look at what actually gets responses in these topics. It's almost exclusively "current" content be it vtubers, games, anime or manga which is still probably in the minority of posts.

This social value on new content doesn't only apply to this topic and it's a big part of content consumption in general for a lot of people, anime or otherwise.

Anyway, this entire thing is a tangent. I maintain my original position that content not having rewatch value doesn't inherently detract from it, especially if theres always new versions of it at the roughly the same quality.

It's even more of a moot point because plenty of the streams and clips are just as nice to watch months later. The "issue" if you can call it that is that it loses it's interactivity when it's not live. Even more so than most media, streaming is a social experience. The chat is as much a part of the experience as the streamer is.
