First off, I'm not sure why I bothered to read this article. I'm unfamiliar with the site, and I don't have a lot of interest in a rhythm game despite having played the rest of the series. But it got recommended to me and was short, I guess.

The article lacks basic fact checking: Kingdom Hearts was released in 2002, not 2004. I have a feeling the author did this intentionally to make the wait between the first games seem less than it already was. The article then complains about the company wasting resources on new assets for spin-off games and then almost immediately after mentions how Melody of Memory is recycling assets.

The most absurd part of it to me is that the author seems to care about the story of Kingdom Hearts and expects it to have a conclusion? I mean, first and foremost, the game did not "end on a massive cliffhanger" as pretty much all plot threads are resolved. I don't find Sora being in another realm all that much of a cliffhanger, because it's a fitting conclusion to the story. Regardless, little teasers for the next game, however much has been planned or not, are Kingdom Hearts tradition. This series is NOT going to have a definitive ending where no threats are ever happening and the characters all live out the rest of their lives peacefully on Destiny Island. As long as it makes money for Square and Disney, they will keep producing this series. Anyone who is hanging onto this series expecting a happily ever after ending with Kairi and Sora getting married are deluded. There will always be a new threat, there's always going to be more Disney to properties to milk. Sora is Ash: destined to never grow up and go on endless adventures traveling the world with his friends and destroying Heartless and whatever other enemies pop up along the way.

I feel almost bad for this person, who is clearly a grown man, still not recognizing that they are still being threaded along because of the emotional resonance they had with the first two games.
