To be fair as a fan we will never get a satisfactory character because in the end none of the characters look or act like the comics they were taken from or if they do the comics are so dated that they just cannot translate to a modern story. Thats why the best cat woman in film looked like a 50 yo s&m club matron (batman returns), why harley had to be over hauled for tv as the suit would be laughable at best (closest to it would be stitches from sky high) or the fact that to get a character to be close to a teen titan starfire you would have to put fake boobs on a gymnast and paint her/him orange only to redubbed by a bubbly 30 yo voice actor that works on a kids show or higher the shebeast they went with in titans who probably could have rocked the role if given a better character redesign.

Unfortunately the comic puritans are what hold genres back as they are demanding fictional races be made white or characters be whitewashed to have certain attributes. Or SJW trying to co opt a character to preach an agenda or atleast the critics try to frame it that way.

Tl:dr comics are non real standards that when adapted to live cause someone to get pissed.
