Strange because that's the exact reason why I stopped playing it.
I found the rewards for the challenges posed by bosses to be unrewarding and underwhelmed.

I got to the boss on the top of the dojo and just said, "fuck it" and stopped playing. Very challenging game with underwhelming rewards.

you were still pretty early on in the game, I think you just reached genichiro. that's nearly everyone's first wall and you either keep smacking your head against the wall until you finally figure out how to best play the game or you give up.

if you were not having enough fun though, maybe beating genichiro wouldn't have changed it so I don't fault anyone for not liking the game.
