TopicAs someone who doesn't follow Politics, it seems Republicans are anti-people.

I wouldn't say Democrats are 'for the people' so much as they won't actively try to hinder progress. Democrats want to maintain their power just like Republicans do, but they have different ways of going about it. Democrats try to gain votes by supporting (or at least claiming to support) issues that people care about. Republicans try to force themselves onto the country and manipulate things to their advantage. They'll try their absolute hardest to suppress votes and feed misinformation, while deliberately keeping their voter base poor and uneducated so they don't bother questioning anything.

Democrats may not actively fight 'for' you, but if policy is written that benefits the people, they won't fight against it either, even if only for purely pragmatic reasons sometimes. Republicans are petty and destructive, and are literally willing to burn the country to the ground if it allows them to get their way.

I believe most Democrats are at least trying to be decent people, but the current Republican Party is beyond redemption.
