That whole over the top wacky Disney channel vibe makes GMW different from early BMW. Most of the antics and stories in early BMW were believable things kids that age would do. The school wasn't just a backdrop for crazy adventures. Also like others mentioned, GMW attempted to do more serious episodes but had no idea what to with the plot once they brought up the topic. The episodes always just petered out. I will say, GMW as a whole seemed to get a little better in S2. Still wasn't great though. Felt to me like they wanted to break out of that Disney mold but couldn't.
