Why would we need an even split of ideologies if the justices are supposed to be unbiased?
To avoid what we have now where a party majority can make all the decisions without bipartisan support. They are SUPPOSED to be unbiased, but nothing is in place to prevent them from making biased decisions that help their party. I guess you can technically impeached a justice but then it relies on the house and senate also being just and unbiased and, well, how we doing with that now?

we need to eliminate lifetime appointments.
Lifetime appointments were supposed to help remove bias as the justices would have no reason to rule in favor of either party since they don't get re-elected or reappointed. I agree that lifetime appointees is equally flawed but I dont know what would be better. Aside from maybe a hard term limit with one term maximum.
