There was a specific point in The Office when they clearly changed direction and tone of the show. I forget exactly when it occurred but the best way to describe it was how Michael was. Early and midway through he was the goofy/dumb one and the rest of the office were normal and level headed. The change occurred when Michael became the one who was more level headed than the rest of the office. From there the entire show changed.

I get ya. Everyone become flanderized. For example, in the beginning Kevin was a bit dopey but he was clearly still a competent person and did his job. But at the end of the show, he couldn't figure out basic math and was fascinated by coloring books and I was like "wat"
