The woman clearly instigated this incident, rudely and unnecessarily. But the dude violently escalated the situation. I guess the question becomes then, at what point do we find violent retaliation of that degree an acceptable response? Is it getting spit upon? I'd like to think we can hold society to higher standard than that, but we're a violent species by nature and I know if I were in the man's place myself a part of me would certainly *want* to respond how he did, I totally get it. And I know I have the capacity in myself, because I've had outbursts of violence in the past. But would I respond that way? Should I respond that way? I don't think so. Part of what sets humanity apart from other species is our cognizant awareness and ability to grow beyond our nature. We can be better than this. They both suck, for different reasons. I can empathize more with man's reaction, but that doesn't mean it's okay.

It was justified. Because it was self defense. Inmingine if someone were to punch you in the face. You have every right to defend yourself.
