i don't think idiocy is an act of evil. if he was authentic in his beliefs - that is, he genuinely believed covid is a hoax - then i think this sort of thing commands pity. for all we know, he tried to get informed and made the mistake of selectively buying into the things that agreed with him and what he wanted to hear. i don't think he was trying to kill anyone, or get anyone sick.

all that said, i think if you have an audience you have to understand the weight of your words, and you need to be responsible with what you say. you need to ask yourself if what you say can bring harm. these are easy things to say from a million miles away and after the fact.

tl;dr: it just sucks and vengeance won't do anything.
