I feel like this shouldn't be a "my side is right and your side is wrong" thing. Try and understand them from their POV and try to get them to understand your side as peaceably as you can. If you completely write off people just based on their political leanings then you're giving up way too easily. If you truly believe that your way is correct, then you have to show it with actions that define what you say you're about and why you think your way is right. Above all though, remember that having different opinions is not a bad thing and should be welcome. No single person is indicative of an entire group whether they are left wing, right wing, or in the middle.
