Yes, the difference is that when most people think of "beating", they think of someone being punched repeatedly, with the intent for serious harm and physical compromise. When someone is beaten, you expect to find them bloody and having difficulty moving. I don't know if English is your primary language, but we have the term "beaten up" to describe just this: The result of a beating.

Spanking is intended to cause pain, not to physically compromise a person. I believe you are quite aware of this.

Aeriss' article was pretty immediately enlightening; I'm quite against spanking on those points alone. My only issue in this topic now is that you guys are supremely disingenuous.
