Lol for real. 12 is a top tier FF

No... it isn't. I'm not saying that it couldn't have been top tier. It had decent characters, a beautiful world and a lot of great backstory, but the execution is what made the game so shit. WWE's Paul Heyman once said that his whole purpose after Brock beat Taker at Wrestlemania was to remind you, the viewer that his client beat the Undertakers undefeated streak at Wrestlemania. To drive home that point, so it was the one thing you remembered after the show went off the air.

Vaan, starts out by wanting to get revenge for the death of his brother(which in context is never actually shown to Vaan, so how would he know about his brothers death, considering that he is a street thief) and it just fades less than a 1/4 way through the story after finding out that Basch didn't kill his brother. In fact, I don't remember it being mentioned again after that point. If anything his anger should have increased and gotten transferred to Vayne and Galbranth, but it wasn't.

Ashe overall has a great story, but it needed to be shown on screen. Her backstory needed to be treated like Lagunas in FF8. Every time there was a major break in the games story(like for example when Vaan gets sent to prison) there needed to be a cut to her and her personal guards(I would pick Biggs and Wedge, since its a mainstay in the series) and show flashbacks of her escaping the palace, her setting up a revolt in random towns and cities within the country.

The only one that had decent story coverage was Basch. Everyone else had a shoehorned story for the sake of "we have to give them some sort of backstory". Even Balthiers backstory wasn't visited until the last couple hours of the game, and that was more like "surprise its a Balthier backstory".

Zodiac age fixed some of the gameplay issues the original had, but not the story, which is the driving force of any Final Fantasy game.
