That story was brought to you by the talented fiction writers at NYT. They inserted the Russia narrative to keep credulous people hooked, and the aspect linking the military was an attempt to fracture his support there, which is high. If you dissect most political stories coming out today with a careful eye, it becomes apparent what the angle is.
