Topic	help, my PHD dissertation is due fridat and i haven't even started yet

You and your chair may work together to decide soft dates for finishing certain chapters but they are in no way a hard and fast rule. More like a time management strategy to keep you moving. The only real "deadline" for a dissertation is the phd deadline your school sets before you are kicked out of your program, which ranges from 7 to 10 years.
