The idea that it's not the government's job to ensure that its citizens can obtain basic neccessities like the fucking mail is a baffling concept to me. I'm sure one such goal is to localize delivery services so that when rural customers complain, their state and federal reps can just shrug and tell them to advocate for an alternative private carrier Or something like that, whatever they can do to gut an essential service and make money while telling their constituents it's for the better, you know Hell, even better, switch to a mail subscription model, where you pick between different providers in an a la carte package.
