The Jake Paul topic in particular was sensational. "<x> is getting raided by the FBI" is going to attract a lot of people just out of curiosity, even if they don't know who it is. And if the thread doesn't immediately provide context, it's a pretty natural reaction to ask who that is. They came for the story, and then needed the context.

If the topic title was "Jake Paul releases new YouTube video", then you'd have more of a point... although it's still pretty understandable for somebody to wander into the topic with the same question since by making the topic in the first place the OP is indicating that this person is worthy of your attention somehow.

I think the worst part is that in the time it takes someone to enter a topic, read it, and post "who?", they could have easily googled the name and answered their own terrible question.

That answers the direct question "who is this person", but not the implied "and why should i care"
