Did you ever collect trading stamps?

Up until around the early 1990s many grocery stores, gas stations and other shops would give out trading stamps with each purchase, typically one stamp for every 10 purchased, though some also offered "super" stamps worth 10 regular stamps for each $1 purchased. You would them paste them into a book and when you had enough books of stamps, you could exchange them for merchandise from a mail order catalog. A typical book held about 1200 stamps, which represented $120 worth of purchases. There were several different companies that offered stamps such as S&H Green Stamps and Blue Chip Stamps. Some chains had their own stamps, such as Big Bear's Buckeye Stamps.

I don't think anyone gives out stamps anymore, I think everyone has switched to loyalty cards.
