So at that point, I may as well avoid the risk of being charged to add the smart lock later and the legal battle, if I'm moving out anyway. But this isn't right at all... He said I shouldn't sign it, and if I do there's probably no recourse after the fact. You could do that. Though, are you going to wait until the lease ends. Usually, when something changes, you can sometimes get out of the lease. Depending on certain things, of course... And thats true. Once you sign it, its signed. You cant do anything else about it.
