Some cats have their personal habits like that. If the cat is healthy it's usually nothing to worry about, including now.

One of my previous cats had the habit of drinking by dipping his paw in the water and licking the drops off his paw. It was kind of messy but at least he was drinking.

thanks. i think the problem is she's still skittish in the new home. she already come out on her own today (compared to yesterday where she just sat under desk like more than 18 hours). any strange noise like neighbor's dog bark, garage door, vehicles, or even me flushing toilet scares her.

otherwise she seems fine. she eats (but not as much as usual) and drink normally.
