Topic | Post Each Time You Beat a Game: 2020 Edition Part II |
XIII_rocks 07/30/20 7:07:28 PM #78: | Covered already in the appropriate topic, but: Outer Wilds I dunno. This might be the best game ever made. It's so intricate. It's awe-inspiring like the Sistine Chapel and yet also somehow as intimate as a tiny local church. Smart, too, covering huge themes - the biggest possible - yet still feels so personal and folksy. Stunning moments of visual, trippy beauty. Occasionally terrifying and horribly tense. A perfect ending that brings a huge mix of emotions. Sadness and melancholy but also hope and awe. Great sound design/music. I love all the space science stuff too - even though it's obviously fantasy it's at least partly grounded in some real theories; though it obviously draws inspiration from a ton of places it is totally unique. I can't stop thinking about it. My only sadness is that unlike my other favourite games, I won't replay it again and again. My memory is too good to forget the solutions to the game, I think. But maybe that's ok - I don't need to play it to death. I'll always treasure it. --- Not to be confused with XIII_stones. https://imgur.com/agodP3r ... Copied to Clipboard! |
