People always think that I'm talking about some fringe kook with no power. I'm not. He is a popular and powerful figure (debated Christopher Hitchens, his books are regularly cited by other creeps, and his "lectures" on things like "the virtues of sexism" have gone viral... He who bemoans the loss of the confederacy (calls himself a paleoconfederate) and advocates for the dismantling of women's rights (to vote, play sports, work, have money, etc) and the killing of LGBT+ people who he says (unsurprisingly) are more sinful than slaveowners. Oh, and he blackmailed a rape victim in his congregation to protect her male rapist because the girl obviously tempted the man and he went before a judge to reduce the sentence of a literal infant rapist, so you know this guy's the real deal.

His church buys up as much commercial property in this city as they can not just to turn a tax-free profit but because they- I shit you not- want to take over the town so they can use the college to spread to other towns like a fucking plague. And if you think that sounds conspiratorial... The reason I know that is because that's what he told my parents and many other people around his age when he was in school he intended to do to get rich, lol. People now avoid selling land to him so he gets members of his church to buy places instead to try and bypass opposition. They also run people for local government positions every election to try and secure their profits and control. People like him are all over the place and no, they do not love the confederate flag for cutesy rebel heritage state rights reasons.
