Topic | The confederate flag is probably the most anti-American symbol imaginable. |
Unbridled9 07/19/20 12:41:12 PM #38: | No. I'd say the most 'anti-American' symbol is the Soviet Russian flag. After all, a system in which the individual is completely subservient to the state and government and effectively holds little to no rights with everything being given to the dialectic/corruption/etc sounds like the exact OPPOSITE of everything America stands for (individualism, freedom, personal rights, etc). The confederate flag represents a lot of things. Slavery is certainly one of them but, IMO, I'd wager that a lot of people who wave it see it as being a representation that they rebelled against a government that would have ruined them and, at least for a short time, managed to be independent. That it was because of slavery is tragic, but that's not why they wave it. Course, being a northerner, I can't really say. --- I am the gentle hand who heals, the happy smile who shields, and the foot that will kick your ***! - White Mage ... Copied to Clipboard! |
