I was driving home from Eastern Washington today, and since I was alone in the car I decided to take the opportunity to stop at a couple of touristy type places that I've always wanted to look at. I stopped at the ginkgo petrified Forest near Vantage, WA. The informational stuff there said that the hike was only like 1.5 mi long or something like that, and I can totally deal with that. Or at least I thought I could.

Under normal circumstances, I believe I would have been totally able to make that hike because I've done a lot worse, very recently. At least in terms of distance. I've also walked in extreme heat before, so I wasn't really worried about that. However, it was a combination of the 95 heat and extremely powerful sun in the middle of the Eastern Washington desert, PLUS hills. I did not account for hills. I got up the first hill and I was experiencing such ridiculous unpleasantness, tightness, and general awfulness in my chest and lungs that I decided to dip out practically immediately. It was pretty fucking brutal lmao

If you would put the exact same hike in the forest, or at night, I'm sure I could have done it no problem. It's a combination of those things that really made it impossible for me.

Anyway the picture I have here isn't of me doing that, it's of me walking right now in the middle of the night at home lmao
