I feel knowing who they were going to go assassinate in the first place would have been a true test of mettle and professionalism, and would have added stakes outside of "Will Rinoa's hurt feelings be mended in time?!" to the whole Disc 1 scenario. Alternatively, they could have had Edea go by a different name while she was the Sorceress, and had her keep her cool mask that she wore for one scene on up until the parade.Then when she addresses the crowd, she takes it off and the plan falls apart for a reason outside of Rinoa being sad/stupid, and Irvine knowingly withholding information. Its pretty cheesy, but with some touch ups/better ideas than what I just came up with off the cuff it could have actually been something tense instead of something stupid.
