Or just, you know, warehouse irredeemable murderers forever. It's somehow less expensive than killing them after a couple or three decades of court-wrangling.

Yeah, its all based around trying not to subject prisoners to cruel and unusual punishment...even in execution, which I think is a dubious concept really.

But honestly the guillotine is about the most humane way to execute someone, there would be no timegap between being alive and being dead. Its just that visually its a bit of a whopper.
