I think it's just as dumb to say it's fully scripted as it is to say it's totally real.

But they have a lot of suspicious stuff, like producers/the host pretty much openly play favorites. Whenever they bring in a big "twist" that messes up someone's plans, it seems pretty suspect, though hard to say if they did that on purpose or edited it after the fact to make it seem more dramatic. And lots of people have gotten away with skirting rules (though supposedly there are basically no real rules) if they're a contestant production likes or if it makes for an interesting moment.

And of course tribal council is a whole thing where Jeff can ask questions based on privileged information, though he doesn't outright reveal secrets.
