Keylo had no reason to let Rey live during their first battle, and if he was so deep into the dark side that he could kill his father , he should have easily dispatched Rey despite his injury. Kylo and Vader both ghosted their father figures like it was nothing and then had changes of heart about the main character because of bloodline reasons.
